FOODS THAT MAKE YOU AGE FASTER AND LOOK OLDER

Who doesn't want to look younger? Having a youthful face is the dream of many people. Yes, not many people want to look old even though they are getting older. Everyone must have longed to slow the aging process, whether woman or man. We do everything to look younger than our actual age, even though the aging process cannot be avoided by anyone. There are several things that can make you age faster such as genetics, smoking, sun exposure, the environment, and many more. Another factor that can make you look older than your actual age can also come from food. The food you eat can make you look five years younger or five years older.

However, it's not only age that affects the health of your skin. What you eat also has a big influence on creating wrinkles on the face. There are certain foods that can speed up your aging process and can quickly make you look older than you really are. These foods can accelerate wrinkles, dull skin, aches, and pains. Here in HEALTHY and FITNESS, we have listed some of the worst foods that will make you age faster. Eating low-quality foods, such as trans fats, causes inflammation as aging is associated with a chronic inflammatory condition. Too much sugar and refined carbohydrates such as pasta or bread can cause skin collagen damage. In fact, collagen is a compound that makes skin supple and fights wrinkles. For that, there are some foods that you should avoid if you don't want to look old right away.

Advanced Glycation End Products and Aging

Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs) are one of the main culprits that speed up the aging process of our skin. Aging is a normal phenomenon. But inadequate nutrition speeds up the aging process of the skin in particular. Advanced glycation end products are produced when sugar and protein react in your body. It affects the skin's collagen and elastin, leading to wrinkles and other symptoms of aging. Telomeres are the protein-DNA caps at the ends of chromosomes. That facilitates chromosomal stability and protects the genomic DNA from damage, according to a report from the Journal Am J Public Health. The length of the telomere gradually shortens with each cell cycle. But the process is faster due to an unhealthy lifestyle such as sugar intake. More than the intake of sugar you need shall cause hyperglycemia. This leads to increased oxidative stress and increased inflammatory signaling resulting in additional damage to the mitochondrial and DNA levels. High sugar results in increased protein glycation which contributes to the formation of advanced glycation end products. This causes functional and structural damage to the cells, leading to rapid aging. It occurs in any organ of the body, be it the eyes, kidneys, skin, muscles, lungs, or heart. Protein glycation increases oxidative stress and inflammation also increases with age.

The healthier you eat, the better you look. A continuous unhealthy diet, on the other hand, can significantly accelerate the aging process of the skin, teeth, and other organs. Here we would like to introduce you to a few foods that you should avoid to stay young:

1.Sugar And Sweet Foods:

Sugar is one of the well-known culprits in skin problems like acne. The bad news is that sugar contributes to the formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) that destroy collagen. When the sugar levels in the body increase, the AGEs process is also stimulated. Sugar also destroys collagen and elastin which keeps skin soft and supple. Too much sugar also causes your skin to lose elasticity and wrinkles arise easier. This is because the end products of the sugar metabolism are deposited on the protein fibers in our connective tissue. Through this process, the connective tissue can stick together and appear limp. In fact, this condition that causes aging occurs faster than when the skin is exposed to the sun. Sugar is harmful to the whole body. Sugar causes inflammation, which acts as a barrier to clear, beautiful skin.  Sugar is the major constituents of sweet dishes that will make you age faster. Increased sugar consumption causes the blood sugar level to rise, which in turn favors fat deposits. More than 60 grams of sugar per day increases the risk of diabetes and the likelihood of being overweight. Sugar also harms your smile. Not surprisingly: Sugar sticks to your teeth, followed by bacteria, tooth decay, and discoloration. So whenever you have something sweet, rinse your mouth with water to remove any build-up. Too much sugar is also associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, skin disorders, depression, and fatty liver. Even your dental health can be disrupted due to excessive consumption. So, it's a good idea to reduce your consumption of sugar and sweet foods.

2.Alcohol:

Alcohol consumption has long been linked to various health problems, including skin health. On the skin, alcohol can cause redness, swelling, loss of collagen, and wrinkles. That's because alcohol depletes the skin of nutrients, hydration, and vitamin A levels. The bad news is this can have a direct impact on wrinkles. Alcohol is very dehydrating, and beer in particular drives water out of the body. As a result, the skin loses its elasticity and wrinkles more quickly. Therefore, always drink a large glass of mineral water with every glass of alcohol. If you drink two and a half liters of mineral water every day for 14 days, you can clearly see the difference: fewer deep wrinkles, firmer skin. As has been discussed in many studies, alcohol will not only disrupt your sleep cycle but also damage the liver, which is the body's detoxifying organ. But when toxins build up in your liver from excessive alcohol consumption and cannot be processed properly, your skin can develop a number of problems: blemishes, pale skin, and wrinkles may result. White wine, for example, is particularly harmful to your teeth. The acid in white wine attacks your tooth enamel and makes your teeth more susceptible to long-lasting deposits. If you drink too much alcohol in the evening, you will often find it harder to fall asleep and you will not look much rested, which in turn enhances the process of aging. Not to mention that alcohol also has a lot of calories and can lead to weight problems in the long run.  An occasional glass or two does not cause any harm to the skin, but drinking excessively, especially sugary ones, can cause free radicals to build up in the body. Make sure to drink in moderation and alternate any alcoholic beverage with water. The Federal Center for Health Education recommends men 20 grams of alcohol per day and women only 12 grams. Even better: avoid alcohol or limit it to special days. Consuming alcohol can cause premature wrinkles, you know. The skin will lose collagen, become red, dehydrated, and even swollen. Alcohol also lowers the levels of vitamin A in the body which is an important antioxidant. The most common wrinkles caused by alcohol are around the eyes.

3.High Salty Foods:

If you like saltiness, it's important to pay attention to your daily salt intake. Foods high in sodium can cause water retention and bloat. Water retention can make skin look swollen and tired. After eating foods high in sodium, you may wake up the next morning with a swollen face, because the salt works to hold water. Salty foods can lead to dehydration and speed up the aging process. This is one of the food ingredients that can make you look older. Too much salt draws a lot of fluid from the body and thus nutrients such as water-soluble vitamins. That makes our cells look pretty old. Salt is important for humans, but only in the right dose. The German Nutrition Society recommends that adolescents and adults do not consume more than six grams of table salt per day. This roughly corresponds to a full teaspoon. Too much salt increases the risk of high blood pressure and thus cardiovascular diseases, which is one of the most common causes of death in Germany. Too much table salt is also said to weaken the bones. Therefore, it is better not to use ready-made meals that contain too high sodium content and avoid highly salted foods. By working more with spices and thereby adding flavor to your food, you can reduce the need for salt.

4.Processed Foods:

Processed foods can destroy damage to our health. These foods do not contain vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and can easily accelerate the aging process. Ready meals, salty snacks, and fast foods almost always contain too much salt. These are the worst foods that can accelerate aging. Ready meals and fast food contain few nutrients like vitamins, minerals, zinc, or folic acid. But these nutrients are important for beautiful skin tissue and the formation of new cells. Fast food, especially fried foods, will only add weight because almost all of them are high in calories.  Unhealthy junk food and foods like white bread that contain empty carbohydrates can lead to wrinkles earlier and also promote cellulite. Almost all fast food contain trans fats, which can clog arteries and blood vessels. Trans fats can also make skin look older. Small changes can make a big difference: replace baguette with whole grain bread, grab apples instead of chocolate chip cookies, and avoid pizzas and lemonades.

5.Deep Fry French Fries:

French fries are a popular snack. But foods fried in high-temperature oil such as French fries can release free radicals. This can cause cell damage in the skin. Exposure to free radicals accelerates the aging process and can initiate cross-linking, which affects DNA molecules and weakens skin elasticity. Also, French fries are high in salt. This can make the skin dehydrated and more prone to wrinkles. Foods that are processed through a frying process using oil contain bad fats that are at risk of making the skin wrinkle quickly. The content in one type of bad fat, namely trans fat, can remove skin elasticity, due to the difficulty of water passing through the body. For those of you who find it difficult to avoid fried foods, you should replace oil with healthier ones. Fry it in olive oil and coconut oil which are rich in vitamin E. Olive oil itself is useful for stabilizing cell walls and protecting the body from free radicals. You can also try sweet potato fries, which contain copper that has anti-aging properties and helps in collagen production.

6. Processed Meat:

Occasionally it is okay to eat processed meat such as hot dogs or pepperoni. But, it's best to avoid processed meat. The reason is that processed meat can be harmful to the skin. Those are foods that can cause premature aging. Processed meats are typically high in sodium, saturated fat, and sulfites. These ingredients can dehydrate the skin and weaken collagen by causing inflammation. According to a study from the US journal "Archives of International Medicine", the increased consumption of red meat significantly reduces life expectancy. Ham, sausages, salami, steaks - if you eat too much of them, you should increase your susceptibility to cardiovascular diseases and various types of cancer. Daily consumption of red meat increases the risk of death by up to twelve percent, but if you eat industrially processed meat such as sausage very often, the risk increases by up to 20 percent. Processed meats are high in saturated fat and nitrates and can cause wrinkles. Nitrates are also processed into nitrites in the body. Nitrite will also be digested into nitrosamines which can cause cancer. The consumption of red meat should therefore not become part of your routine. If you want to eat processed meat, balance it with foods that contain vitamin C because it can stop the effects of nitrates. It is better to eat lean, white meat such as chicken or turkey meat. If you are a vegetarian, try beans.

7. Margarine:

Margarine is not butter, but a cheap alternative to butter, which can make you look older than you actually are. A study published in the JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN COLLEGE OF NUTRITION uncovered the fact that people who do not eat margarine are more likely to avoid skin damage and wrinkles than those who do. A study in HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL revealed that margarine is worse than moderate amounts of real butter. This may be related to the fact that margarine has high levels of partially hydrogenated oil and trans fat. These trans-fatty acids can make your skin more susceptible to ultraviolet irritation, which can damage collagen and skin elasticity. Therefore it is recommended to use olive oil instead of using margarine, to stay younger and look young. Olive oil also has numerous health benefits that are helpful in increasing longevity.

8.Carbohydrates with a High Glycemic Index:

Foods with a high ‘Glycemic Index’ such as white rice, bread, and sweet cakes are not good for the body because they can increase blood sugar levels. These foods containing refined carbohydrates also make a big contribution to accelerating the aging process. Refined carbohydrates with a high glycemic index make the body go the extra mile to break down sugar and cause the collagen in the skin to become damaged. You can replace the carbohydrate content in rice and bread with other foods such as taro, cassava, sweet potatoes, corn, and many more. If the sugar in the blood is high, the glycation process can damage the collagen (a protein that makes skin smooth) in the skin. Damaged collagen, which was initially flexible, will turn hard, causing wrinkles to appear on the skin. You don't want to have wrinkles at a young age, do you? Therefore, limit your consumption of sugar or sweet foods.

9.Soda and Energy Drinks:

Carbonated drinks or soda have many bad effects on the body. Energy drinks will only make you look older twice as fast as you think. Energy drinks are high in sugar and so acidic that they can damage teeth and make them prone to staining. They contain phosphoric acid, which can accelerate the erosion of enamel. Bad teeth will only make you look older. Moreover high caffeine and sodium content can cause dehydration and this is one of the main factors of skin aging. The aging effects of soda are just as bad as cigarettes. According to one study, people who consumed 20 ounces of soda were equivalent to 4.6 years of aging. This means that one bottle of soda per day can make a person look five years older.

10.    Coffee:

Coffee contains large amounts of caffeine. If you regularly consume coffee, the caffeine in your body will increase. Caffeine in the body can work as a diuretic and will urinate more frequently, which triggers dehydration in the body. As a result, our bodies will lose a lot of fluids. This is the reason why coffee causes premature aging. When the body is dehydrated, it can increase the potential for wrinkles and freckles.  The skin will also appear dry and dull. In addition, the caffeine in coffee will keep us awake for a long time. This habit over time will make it difficult for us to sleep. A medical study found that poor sleep is associated with increased signs of aging and more dark eye circles, wrinkles, and fine lines. If it is difficult to break the habit of drinking coffee, there is nothing wrong with the consumption of enough water to neutralize excess caffeine in the body. Eliminating the habit of consuming coffee is not easy, especially for you coffee lovers. You will feel dizzy, find it difficult to concentrate, and suffer from a bad mood, this is because you are addicted to coffee. The best solution to overcome this problem is to balance the effects of these diuretics by consuming lots of water and getting enough sleep. In addition, also consume more fruits, healthy vegetables, and do regular skin-care.

11.    Baked Goods:

The bakery case at the grocery store is something you should leave out. Trans fats can cause many risky health problems. Partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are often found in baked goods, so it's important to always read the labels of the foods you buy. Baked goods are rich in added sugars and fats which can lead to weight gain and poor dental health. Sugar promotes an unhealthy microbiome and is pro-inflammatory, which can speed up the aging process.

12.    Saturated Fat:

Saturated fat itself is bad for the skin. A diet high in red meat, milk, and cheese can make you look older than you really are. This is because saturated fats, especially when combined with foods high in sugar, contribute to inflammation. Again consuming too much saturated fat can make cholesterol build up in your arteries. Saturated fat raises your LDL (bad) cholesterol in the blood, which increases your risk for heart disease and stroke.

13.    Milk:

Milk is one of the most common sensitivities for adults, so it is important to pay attention to any adverse reactions after consuming milk. Food dairy products can cause some people to get skin reactions, such as eczema or psoriasis. For some people, dairy products can increase inflammation in the body leading to oxidative stress, one of the main causes of premature aging. A recent study from Brigham Young University is said to have found an association between drinking milk with different levels of fat and signs of aging. This study on 5834 American adults, found a link between drinking whole milk and shorter telomere length. People who drank milk with low-fat content had longer telomeres. In the present study, those who reported normal fat milk (saturated fat or 2%) had much shorter telomeres, on average than those who ate low-fat milk (1% or nonfat), indicating that high-fat milk went hand in hand with increased cellular aging.
